Iva Paneva
Iva Paneva is a freelance writer, actress and documentary filmmaker. Her writing career includes a range of conference and academic research papers, travel and spiritual articles.
Iva’s passion for acting started at a very young age at school where she won numerous awards for young performers. 1999 saw the publication of her children's book “Cosmic Story” in Bulgaria, which she considers as one of her special achievements. She pursued her acting passion and successfully graduated with a Bachelor of Acting from the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts, Bulgaria in 2000. Following her studies she started her career as a performer and voice over artist.
In 2001 she moved to South Africa. Used to facing new challenges, and always optimistic, she used the opportunity to broaden her knowledge and moved behind the camera. She studied theatre directing, television and film at the University of the Witwatersrand where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts with Honours (2003) and a Master of Arts (2006).
Her broadcasting experience ranges from editing to vision mixing and directing for various live television shows in South Africa.
Until recently, Iva was the Head of the Television Department at a University in Johannesburg, where she had the privilege to transfer her knowledge to the up and coming South African TV and Film professionals. She subsequently worked as a freelance research consultant, curriculum developer and part-time journalism lecturer.
Currently she is focusing on her writing and artistic career, while working at a Bulgarian NGO.
In her spare time, Iva is a passionate salsa dancer, archer and photographer.
